Comfort Maximized – From New Plants to Furnace Service12/11/2015 With colder weather settled in and days that seem like there’s very little any sunlight, it can be difficult to always feel like your home is a comfortable place to be. That spreads far beyond having annual furnace service too, because there are various things you can do to help make your home feel comfortable even when your furnace is running at its best. Here are a couple that we find very helpful here in Metro Atlanta: Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, could mean quite a bit of air is sneaking out of your home. It goes without saying that the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is heading outside also. There are a host of options that can help you shut those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are fairly basic fixes for homeowners to take care of themselves. Switch your furnace filter. This is one of the most important things you can do to not only improve your furnace’s efficiency, but also to help save you money. Plus, you don’t need to have your furnace service technician to do it, you can do it yourself. It’s usually recommended to switch your furnace filter every one or two months to get the most out of its performance, but some could last even longer. Add plants. Indoor plants can offer a host of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually attractive, they can potentially improve your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a host of toxins that are emitted from various common household cleaners, paints and other products. Furnace service. This should be something that you’re already doing, but it never hurts to get a reminder. Having furnace service completed annually helps make sure that your furnace is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be fixed so your comfort isn’t compromised. It doesn’t have to feel hard to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in.
